Ownership: On 1 July 2025 Allianz Australia Insurance Limited acquired RAA Insurance Limited, which changed its name to Allianz South Australia Insurance Limited (Allianz SA). Under a 20-year partnership Allianz SA underwrites RAA-branded home and motor insurance, and RAA issues policies under binder. Before 1 July 2025 the insurer was owned by RAA. The RAA brand and other RAA businesses remain with the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia.
RAA Insurance is the insurance sold by the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia. It covers cars, motorcycles, caravans, trailers, boats and mobility scooters, along with home and contents and landlord insurance, and is sold mainly to South Australians.
RAA's website states that the insurer is Allianz South Australia Insurance Limited (ABN 14 007 872 602, AFSL 232525), referred to as Allianz SA, and that RAA issues the insurance under a binder from Allianz SA.
This arrangement is recent. The insurer used to be RAA Insurance Limited, owned by the association. On 1 July 2025 Allianz Australia Insurance Limited acquired that company and it was renamed Allianz South Australia Insurance Limited. RAA describes the arrangement as a 20-year partnership in which Allianz underwrites RAA-branded policies while RAA staff in South Australia continue to handle sales and claims. Roadside assistance and other RAA businesses were not part of the change.
